The character models are fantastic and look just as good if not better than the Gundam Versus' series character models. For this PS4 port, the graphics have slightly improved. Likely that everyone coming from a Gundam background finds this game really easy in comparison.Maxi Boost ON first came out in arcades when the PS3 was still active. There are so many more cancels and options, characters, awakenings.Īmekan is good technique that could be used in the situation although its more of an evasive kinda thing which allows player to cancel a shot which would leave them vulnerable in the air and stopping their momentum into another attack allowing them to quickly drop down. I don't think Extreme VS would capture the lightning in a bottle that is DotA 2, LoL and Smite.Īlso, that's a lot of canceling and allowing you to do crazy stuff, but what are the mind games? Are they the same as in Rise? Oh it feels soooo much smoother, its much faster and doesnt feel as clunky, I don't know if its just because I play EXVS that Rise feels clunky (maybe because Im so used to the speed of Gundam and would know if I pressed something it would happen as I wanted whereas here I get a lot of error in my playstyle)ĮXVS will never be LoL etc, Its definately a niche game for the west, even if Rise was the same as EXVS or there was another western interpretation I dont think it would ever be as popular as other fighting games and especially not as popular as MOBA's. I can see why you'd like it, not sure if movement feels much more smoother because of it, but why would it be more popular? That said, it looks like an awful lot more to learn. For instance, you can link 3 beam rifles by using shoot->BD->shoot->BD->shoot for a quick down. You can boost dash cancel alongside using cancel routes (which Rise has). You can combine this with boosting to mix up your landings. You can do this while meleeing to cancel out of the melee string, and follow up with another melee.

You can step by double tapping a direction (which cuts tracking). You maintain directional momentum while rising and falling. A very common technique is to Boost Hop, where you Boost Dash into a jump. In EXVS, you also maintain directional momentum when you let go of boost.

Things such as step, boost dash canelling, rainbow steps (cancelling a melee string), fuwasteps, amekyan, etc all help the game flow better than Rise does. The biggest differences with Extreme VS (in my eyes) is that you get a lot more movement and cancel options than Rise of Incarnates.
